The brood

Introducing our as-yet unnamed (and long awaited) flock. From left to right: Barred Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red #1, Silver-laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red #2, Easter Egger, and Australorp.

Maybe we should have a naming contest: first omelet goes to the winner. Runner up gets feathers from their first molt. Think of the tiny little pillow you could make!

  1. Silver Laced Wyandottes and Plymouth Barred Rocks are my favourites! I love the names Lola, Poppy (but I think Carrie has a Poppy), Matilda, Maude, Maeve... I'll keep thinking!

  3. They're getting so big...it's incredible how fast they grow up! I remember when our quail check was just a tiny baby. Enjoy them!!

  4. Peeps! They are adorable in all of their fluffiness.

We have a chicken named Packing Peanut, so I really shouldn't offer up naming assistance. Except for this little nugget. Avoid the name Hazel like the plague.

And Jayme has a good memory. We do have a Poppy, but I won't tell her if you reuse her name. She's a sweetie.

    Congratulations!

  5. How about Mother Clucker for one? (sorry?)
I really want chickens. I need to talk the hubby into it.
