Three months

Nora turned THREE months old yesterday. It's ridonkulous how quickly she's growing, as I think I've mentioned before.

In the past month she has begun smiling and interacting much more, holding her head up very well, and sleeping for longer than 45 minutes at a time—in fact she slept through the night five times in the past week. I'm trying not to say that too loudly, because after I spent yesterday bragging about it, she decided to wake up at 2 a.m. last night and insist on nursing nonstop for the rest of the night. No complaints, though; she'll only be this tiny once, and when she's 13 I'll be longing for the days that she needed me so much.

Could you say no to that smile?

In motion

In the past month Nora has also had some run-ins with my less-than-stellar parenting. About a week and a half ago, she fell off the couch after I placed her precariously and walked away. It was awful, and I was sure I had given her her first concussion. But she was fine, despite lots of tears from both of us. Then on Friday, while we were out for a walk with some friends, I stopped her stroller and turned to talk to my friend. My friend looked up from buttoning her baby into the Bjorn, screamed, and ran after Nora's stroller as it was rolling into a busy street. I had done absolutely everything wrong: I didn't use the brake or the wrist-leash, and I stopped the stroller right at the top of a fire station driveway—wheel pointed streetward. On that same walk, I also forgot a blanket and a hat, so Nora got her first (minor) sunburn. And today she was hit in the face by Sidamo's football.

So yeah, this whole three-month mark is a little more of an achievement than it seems at first glance. Way to survive it, baby!

Parenting is a battlefield (much like love), so I think if all parties are surviving, you are doing great!
I did the same thing with Mallory's stroller yesterday. Well, she didn't roll, but I walked away a little to look at something, and when I looked back, a couple of folks had stopped and were cooing (and contemplating a kidnapping, I am sure) at her.
Oops!

So good to know I'm not the only one (and I bet every mama reading this is thinking the same thing :) ). If it makes you feel any better, my mother dropped me face first on the concrete sidewalk when I was 3 months old. My face turned black and blue and I had a huge lump. I turned out okay (I think...but my husband might disagree).

Nora is just so cute!

Nora is looking like you more and more. So pretty!

I dropped the cordless phone on Carver's face while I was trying to talk and hold him at the same time. He was 3 months old. He had a nice gash on his forehead that bled.

I cried for 3 days straight!!!

Her pictures are beautiful and I think we've all let a stroller roll or a fall happen. I fell asleep nursing and dropped my oldest. He was a preemie and I cried for a while! He's fine:)

Yep, definitely been there, done that. I cried much harder than Benjamin the first time he rolled out of bed.

She is just getting cuter everyday. And I try and tell myself the same thing on days where I am just running out of patience and want to be alone...I'll be wishing for all that togetherness when they're teenagers!

She's a baby sister. She'll grow up tough.
btw I did the same thing with the running stroller a few days ago. I was telling some long and elaborate story to my neighbor across the street, and she's pointing madly at my stroller as it rolled gently down the sidewalk behind me.
I thought the brake was on. I really did. I didn't even know I had a leash until I saw someone else with one at the park.

I think the second ones are a little tougher, for obvious and embarrassing reasons. I bashed more child's head into the car door twice in about 20 minutes. I don't recall doing so with Figs ever. Sigh.

Happy 3 months beautiful girl.
